Analytics Manager

North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA) is looking for an Analytics Manager to join our growing team in improving cancer outcomes for the population of North Central London.

NCLCA is a collaboration of NHS and other bodies, hosted by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We work to promote early diagnosis, optimise pathways, reduce variation, provide personalised support for patients, and build service resilience. Patients and carers are at the heart of what we do.

This is an exciting time to join the Alliance, as we seek to drive forward an ambitious strategy, in collaboration with the NCL Integrated Care System. We work in partnership with multiple NHS providers across primary and secondary care and with local authorities in North Central London (the Boroughs of Camden, Islington, Haringey, Barnet and Enfield).

The role involves delivering data products and analyses to support NCLCA through modern and accessible business intelligence and analytical methods, improving data pipelines through automation, and producing high-quality data visualisations. Acting as a data translator and supporting team members to access data more easily, and presenting complex information to diverse stakeholders, building relationships, representing NCLCA in national networks, and strengthening partnerships with NCL ICB are also key results areas.

Main duties of the job

1. Oversee daily operations of the Data and Analytics team, ensuring high-quality outputs, mentoring staff, and fostering a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
2. Conduct advanced statistical analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights. Design and implement reporting systems, including self-service tools, to meet current and future BI needs.
3. Review team outputs to maintain analytical standards and ensure accurate, timely, and well-documented reporting.
4. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address analytical needs, resolve data quality issues, and communicate insights effectively.
5. Drive adoption of approaches such as segmentation, risk stratification, and predictive modelling to support integrated care and improve outcomes.
6. Research and implement healthcare analytics innovations and promote upskilling within the team.
7. Leverage tools like SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, and Tableau to streamline data processes and enhance reporting efficiency.
8. Contribute to risk assessments, benchmarking, and aligning analytics with NCLCA and NHS England objectives.
9. Support business continuity by covering key processes and ensuring workflows are robust and automated where possible.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

• Master's degree or equivalent level experience in a data and analytics field with evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
• Expertise in areas such as analytic reporting, data management, population health management, data modelling, or statistics.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare data and wider determinants of health.
• Awareness of the Cancer specific elements of the NHS Long Term Plan, NHS delegation plans and the plans for provider collaboratives.

Desirable

• Strong understanding of cancer and healthcare policy in London, including the NHS Long Term Plan, delegation plans, and provider collaboratives.
• In-depth knowledge of cancer and related data, gained through professional experience or training.
• Strong understanding of the Triple Aim framework and its application to Population Health Management analytics.
• Member of relevant professional body such as AphA or Royal Statistical Society

Experience

Essential

• Prior experience of working in a data and analytics role and as part of a data and analytics (or equivalent) team.
• Experience with cancer-specific datasets (e.g., CWT, COSD, outcomes data) and working with cancer data within broader datasets (e.g., Secondary User Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Primary Care).
• Expert in analytical tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, and Tableau.
• Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methods (logic models, measurement frameworks, impact metrics) to support project delivery.
• Knowledge of NHS commissioning data, data flows, and/or population health management.
• Familiarity with Reproducible Analytical Pipelines and source control tools like Git and GitHub.
