Job description

Your Team Responsibilities

As an analyst you will work on specific, meaningful projects at the MSCI Sustainability Institute. The role involves conducting thematic research and analysis at the intersection of capital markets, policy, sustainability issues, and investor portfolios. You will support the pro-active management of stakeholder relationships and gain hands-on experience working with sustainable finance datasets used by institutional investors to examine trends and generate insights.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Supporting the Institute team in project management, including helping to track progress and maintain momentum on priority projects alongside senior researcher colleagues.
  2. Writing research and content that contributes to the Institute’s thought leadership.
  3. Performing quantitative analysis, including data mapping, scoping, charting, and visualization using tools such as Python.
  4. Collaborating with senior researchers at MSCI and external organizations on co-authored research papers.
  5. Attending industry events and workshops to scope emerging trends, collaboration opportunities, and policy developments.
  6. Staying up to date on developments in sustainable finance, investment themes, regulation, and investor initiatives to inform research and strategy.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
  1. Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Economics, Finance, Sustainability). Master’s candidates preferred but not required.
  2. Internship experience in financial industry and/or other analytical fields.
  3. Strong interest in financial markets and sustainability.
  4. Strong quantitative skills and research skills.
  5. Strong ability to code and visualize data – competence in Python strongly preferable.
  6. Articulate communication and ability to manage time across competing projects.
  7. Some exposure to the academic literature on sustainable finance.
  8. Intellectual curiosity, analytical rigor, and a passion for excellence.
  9. Navigate hurdles with entrepreneurial spirit.
  10. High attention to detail and good team player.
  11. Strong analytical, data-driven, and problem-solving skills, ability to break down complex issues.
  12. Ability to prioritize effectively and work under time constraints.
