Analyst/Associate

Rockbourne
London
GBP 60,000 - 80,000
Job description

Rockbourne is delighted to be retained by a leading Real Estate firm specialising in developing and managing high-quality Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) in helping them appoint a new Analyst/Associate to their team.

The Why

My client is a significant player in the US living market and has recently announced their expansion into the European market targeting PBSA in the UK and Ireland. As a result, they are now looking to expand their investment team and have outlined a number of key additions to the business.

This role is an opportunity for you to join an exciting, dynamic start-up business with a large, well-capitalised parent. You will be working within a high-performing team and will play a leading role in helping them forge a new business in the UK and, potentially, beyond this.

What is in it for you?

  • Track Record – Our client has an existing enviable track record, and you can leverage their extensive experience, strong relationships, brand and network.
  • Team/Culture – Work as part of an experienced but humble leadership team who are very open-minded and are also committed to helping you to realise your goals and share in the successes along the way.
  • Autonomy - The team will empower you to do your best work rather than dictate exactly how you do it.
  • Progression - Chance to join a small team in a key position for the business but with scope to also grow that function in your own way.
  • Learning & Development – Our client are committed to supporting you to reach your full potential, through a combination of on-the-job training as well as internal and external learning and development opportunities.
  • Entrepreneurialism - Ability to identify particular investment themes/products and have the backing to put a business case together.

The role itself:

The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following functions:

  • Playing a leading role in supporting the ‘engine room’ in appraising new deals, putting memos and decks together and improving capacity across the team.
  • Assessing potential development opportunities across the UK.
  • Building financial models and cost models to monitor existing projects and assessing new development opportunities.
  • Initial screening of investment opportunities and performing due diligence on approved transactions.
  • Assist with information dissemination and analysis for acquisitions, financings, recapitalisations, and dispositions.
  • Assist with preparation of cash flow analyses and investment return projections.
  • Assist with the sourcing and closing of debt.

What do you need to bring to the table?

  • 3 - 5 years of Commercial Real Estate experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Undergraduate degree is required, preferably with a focus in Business, Real Estate, Finance, or other relevant subject matter.
  • Prior residential (specifically PBSA) investment/deal experience is desirable, not essential.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Strong preference for knowledge/understanding of JV structuring, debt capital markets, waterfall analysis.
  • Advanced understanding of underwriting and investment concepts and the ability to apply concepts.
  • Advanced financial and analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Location: West-End.
