Job description

Job title: Project Manager - Analysis and Design

Location: Portsmouth - Broad Oak. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £55,000 commensurate on skills and experience.

What you'll be doing:

  1. Accountable for team and project budget, performance, and results.
  2. Manage a small team of project professionals.
  3. Track and drive project financials, including CRSs, invoicing, and monitoring spend versus forecast.
  4. Utilise experience in risk management to address project risks effectively.
  5. Apply strong commercial acumen to project activities.
  6. Ensure adherence to essential procedures based on personal knowledge of Project Management principles.
  7. Multitask effectively and provide clear direction, guidance, and support to project teams.
  8. Take ownership of all project plans and prioritise actions to resolve resource and operational challenges.
  9. Exercise full management authority, including conducting performance reviews and overseeing recruitment.
  10. Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships effectively.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  1. Recognised as a Project Manager practitioner with project delivery experience.
  2. Ability to resolve project related problems that do not have routine solutions.
  3. Commercially and financially astute with experience in financial reporting and managing budgets.
  4. Knowledge of good bid practice and process with an awareness of business development and keen to develop this further.
  5. Possesses strong and refined communication and diplomacy skills, capable of influencing internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Demonstrates ability to make difficult decisions when necessary and exhibits decisiveness and drive in accomplishing tasks.
  7. Quick learner, adept at grasping new concepts rapidly.

Desirable:

  1. Professional PM Qualification or equivalent practical experience gained through application of Project Management.
  2. Degree or equivalent.

The Analysis and Design Team:

This role is a key management role in the Analysis and Design team to drive and deliver all the Analysis and Design training contracted and business development. In addition to Type 26, there are numerous smaller contracts to deliver over shorter time periods, often to new and growing customers; focus must be retained on these to deliver to time, cost, and quality, in support of the Portfolio Lead.
