Structural Aluminum Fabricator/Welder
Candidate must be reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to deliver jobs within the expected time frame. They MUST have EXPERIENCE AT LEAST 5 YRS in the structural steel industry and 2 YEARS in the Aluminum Fabrication Industry. This is a full-time position with competitive pay, based on experience, and immediate work within our shop in Portsmouth, VA.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate ability to perform multi-pass, all position fillet and butt weld using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), and FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding).
- Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.
- Complete layouts using drawings and/or templates.
- Weld together metal components of products, as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc-welding equipment.
- Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
- Weld completion in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
- Clean or degrease weld joint or workpiece, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
- Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
- Set up and operate welding equipment and select proper electrodes according to metals to be joined or as instructed.
- Perform grinding and joint preparation for NDT processes.
- Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
- Capable of using oxy/fuel torch to cut steel.
- Proficient in adding and subtracting measurements.

Willing to work in a team-based, fast-paced environment and work independently to complete responsibilities as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $42,250.00 to $56,000.00 /year based on a 40-hour work week, with an average workweek for 2023 being 45 hours. Benefits include 401k with Company Matching, Health Care, Paid Time Off, and vacation.
