Job description

Join Melbourne Airport’s dedicated team as an Airfield Lighting Officer and play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and functionality of our airport facilities.

This role supports the effective and safe operation of airfield lighting and electrical systems through inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of critical assets. You’ll work on planned and reactive tasks to ensure minimal disruption to airport operations, following strict safety and operational protocols.

Key responsibilities :

  • Perform electrical tasks in accordance with A-Class licensing requirements.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and airfield lighting systems.
  • Undertake planned and unplanned works safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance by all involved.
  • Maintain accurate operational logs and documentation.
  • Provide guidance to apprentices and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Complete training as directed and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will have :

You’re a qualified A-Grade electrician with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and problem-solving. You enjoy working in a dynamic environment where your skills keep essential systems running smoothly.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Work safely at heights certification (or willingness to attain if successful).
  • Basic Airport Lighting (Level 1) certification (or willingness to attain if successful).

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication skills for technical explanations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Effective decision-making and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Commitment to teamwork and smooth shift handovers.
  • Understanding and adherence to workplace safety standards.
