Job description

Job title: Aircraft Mechanical Fitter
Duration: 12 months rolling contract
Location: RAF Shawbury, SY4 4DZ
Start: ASAP
Hours & Shift Pattern: 4 week rotational shift pattern (including nights) - average 40 hours per week.
Salary: £20.23 per hour PAYE/ £27.07 per hour UMBRELLA + £4,000 per year shift allowance


Morson Talent are looking for an Aircraft Mechanical Fitter on behalf of the MoD's chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying School (referred to as MFTS), located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

The Aircraft Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assisting in the movement, Line and Base Maintenance of the UK MFTS (RW) H135/H145 fleet.

Non-certifying role.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Provide engineering operational support to Flight Operations.
  2. Accomplishment of Maintenance inspections and repairs as directed by nominated Shift Supervisor or Certifying Engineer.
  3. Work to high standards to ensure continued safe operation of the aircraft.
  4. Completion of maintenance, including airframe structure, power plant, mechanical and electrical systems in accordance with written instructions laid down by OEM.
  5. Conduct off-aircraft mechanical, power plant, component and composite technical work in workshops as required.
  6. Assist in day to day running of the aircraft Hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skills:
ESSENTIAL
  1. Thorough knowledge of engine and airframe systems.
  2. Knowledge of specialised test equipment relating to engine and airframe systems.
  3. Up to date knowledge of Flight/Airport Operations.
  4. Up to date knowledge of Aircraft Line Maintenance.
  5. Up to date knowledge of Aircraft Base Maintenance.

DESIRABLE
  1. Knowledge of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS.
  2. Knowledge of CAA Part 145 and Part M regulations.

Education, Qualifications or Special Training:
ESSENTIAL
  1. Apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance or related discipline.

DESIRABLE
  1. Experience on H135/H145.

Experience:
ESSENTIAL
  1. Experience of Base Maintenance.
  2. Experience of Flight Operations and Line Maintenance.

DESIRABLE
  1. Experience of our Helicopters products.
  2. Experience of Military Aviation.
