This year we have a new addition to our maintenance capability with British Airways Engineering Gatwick. We are looking to build on the fantastic capability of the colleagues there and grow it to include Winter Airbus Heavy Maintenance capability in this amazing facility.

The role: BAEG Aircraft Mechanic

As an Aircraft Mechanic, you will work as part of our maintenance team to complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks on aircraft and components. Working under supervision, you will perform mechanical repairs and inspections, ensuring all work is completed to the required standards and timeframes. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of aircraft maintenance.

What you’ll do:

1. Complete maintenance tasks on aircraft and components under supervision, meeting all quality standards and time requirements
2. Maintain a safe working environment through strict adherence to safety protocols and housekeeping standards
3. Sign off completed work within your approval scope
4. Occasionally operate and drive various vehicles, including mechanical handling equipment, lifting equipment, and elevated work platforms (within permit limitations)
5. Actively identify and suggest improvements to work tasks, processes, and environment
6. Support the delivery of BAEG objectives
7. Work in confined spaces as required (such as fuel tanks)

Your Experience:

1. Completion of a recognised Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
2. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and maintenance manuals
3. Ability to obtain and maintain airport restricted zone access
4. Experience working in technical environments requiring precision and attention to detail
5. Computer literacy with experience using technical documentation systems
