Aircraft Electrical Technician

Jacksonville, FL

Contract Position

$29.87-$35.22/Hour

Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced electrical and avionics system installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting to support commercial and defense aircraft programs in compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, wire schematics, and diagrams to ensure correct wiring, component installation, and routing.
  • Execute bonding, resistance, and continuity checks, AC/DC power checks, and functional tests.
  • Install and terminate wiring, including connectors, pins, sockets, coaxial cables, fiber optics, and shielded twisted pair splicing using appropriate electrical tools.
  • Utilize calibrated measurement and electrical tools such as crimpers, megohmmeters, multimeters, and bond meters.
  • Conduct Air Data Testing and assist with scheduled maintenance, defect rectification, modifications, and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Execute duties while maintaining tool accountability, safety standards, and cleanliness (“Clean as You Go”).
  • Participate in daily team activities and report incidents through the Boeing Safety Management System.
  • Support aircraft delivery timelines and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 years of recent hands-on experience as an aircraft mechanic (commercial, defense, or relevant trade apprenticeship).
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
    • Proficient in electrical and avionics installations and terminations.
    • Familiarity with a wide range of electrical/mechanical tools and testing equipment.
    • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • FAA certification in Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P).
    • Experience with aircraft maintenance best practices (FOD control, tool accountability, health and safety compliance, COSHH).
    • Experience with fiber optic and coaxial cable installation.
