To support the growth of the team, we have exciting opportunities at Aston Martin Formula 1 Team as a Aero Surface Designer within our Aerodynamics department working directly with Senior Leadership, focusing on the aerodynamic surface definition of our Formula 1 cars.

About the Role:

Imagine a role where your passion for aerodynamics meets the cutting edge of Formula One innovation. As an Aero Surface Designer within the Aerodynamics Department, you’ll have the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the generation of the aerodynamic design concepts, collaborating directly with Senior Technical Leadership, Design Engineers, and Aerodynamicists, to contribute to our mission of consistently securing a top-three spot in the FIA Constructor’s Championship.

Reporting to the Lead Designer, you will be responsible for:

• Collaborating closely with Senior Leadership, Aerodynamicists, Design Engineers, and Operational Teams for the delivery of development aerodynamic geometry to the organisation for CFD, WT, and Track testing.
• Constructing complex CAD concept surfaces using CATIA.
• Championing continuous improvement in aerodynamic design processes.

Skills and Attributes:

• CATIA Expertise: Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6/3DX, with a focus on advanced surfacing techniques would be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of CAD design techniques.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to surface modelling and design accuracy.
• Problem-Solving: Creative problem-solving skills to optimize aerodynamic shapes.
• Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Adaptability: Willingness to question conventions and embrace modern approaches.
• Understanding of aerodynamic principles would be beneficial but not necessarily essential.
• Experience in high-level motorsport or aerospace environments would be beneficial.

This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with an additional requirement to travel to other locations for track tests where necessary.
