About us
We are looking for an experienced social work practitioner to join our Inpatient CAMHS service. This is an essential role in delivering high quality social work services by combining expert knowledge, leadership, and specialized skills to support people, families, and communities.

About the Role

The role of Advanced Social Work Practitioner will support the Principal Manager in the delivery of the commissioned social work contract to Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

You will have a complex and high-risk caseload where you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team ensuring the social work role is embedded to supporting people in achieving their best outcomes. This will be through thorough social work assessments and interventions to ensure patient safety and well-being.

You will apply evidenced based practice and advanced clinical skills to address social, psychological, and legal issues. This will be demonstrated through knowledge and application of relevant legislation and frameworks.

You will deputize for the Principal Manager and deliver practice supervision to the social work team ensuring that we continue to deliver a high standard service.

This leadership role will enable you to support the team in their development, identifying and encouraging the strengths of the team and wider service delivery.

You will support the social work team development through Student placement activity, ASYE, Level 3, Practice Educator, BIA and AMHP.

You will work closely with the family and friends of people as well as external professionals and other stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes.

You will have sound knowledge of safeguarding adults and children and will lead on this for the service.

About you

• You will contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of young people during their hospital admission by providing a quality and effective social work provision and ensure that all statutory duties are carried out in an appropriate and timely manner in line with social work code of practice (SWE).
• You will work in partnership with young people through empowering and supporting them to make informed decisions concerning their recovery.
• You will ensure the young person is centralised to a personalised and flexible case management approach that promotes recovery, understands that ‘motivation to change’ is a dynamic and fluid process, and recognise the need to work at an individual pace that supports young people towards discharge and successful reintegration back into the community.
• You will be fully conversant in the procedures to be followed to safeguard children and vulnerable adults and ensure appropriate safety plans are in place and lead on this for inpatient CAMHS.
• You will focus on recovery, inclusion, personalisation, intervention and support to build resilience within families, communities as well as through partnership working through using sociological knowledge and approaches to reduce the need for institutional responses to mental health difficulties.
• You will be an integral multidisciplinary team member with a clear social work identity.
• You will deliver practice/clinical supervision to social work colleagues, supporting them with career development, reflective practice and lessons learnt.
• You will develop leadership qualities and skills through supporting the Principal manager in the social work delivery across the service and deputise on their behalf when required to do so.
• If you are an AMHP then you will provide this statutory responsibility to Salford’s AMHP rota and participate in the AMHP Manager rota.
• You will work flexibly as per the needs of the service.
• You will undertake other reasonable and similar duties which may be allocated from time to time that are commensurate with the general character and grading of the post.

• Proven technical skills and ability in the role with a record of accomplishment for delivering outcomes.
• Professional credibility through proven relevant experience.
• Recognised professional social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
• To have achieved level 3 social work status.
• To have a thorough understanding of the needs of young people who present with complex mental health.
• To work collaboratively and effectively with the multidisciplinary team, partner agencies, families, friends and carers.
• An ability to make effective and timely decisions that place the young person at the centre.
• An ability to adapt to service needs and to lead on change with the social work team.
• To have a good understanding of the models of supervision and adapt to achieve the best practice standards from the social work team.
• To be highly skilled in safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
• To have a sound knowledge base of all legislation that impacts the young person and their recovery.
• An ability to produce assessment and reports of a high standard.
• To be open and transparent.
