Job Overview

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic pharmacist to join our paediatric oncology haematology team. Your new role will lead on the build, maintenance, and validation of new medicines within our electronic prescribing system, Chemocare. This is both at OUH (the primary treatment centre) and across the network of paediatric oncology shared care units.

A strong interest in IT is desired, alongside either oncology/haematology or paediatric experience.

Main Duties of the Job

1. To be an active member of the pharmacy department and in the specialist area.
2. To contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of protocols within paediatric haematology and oncology services for medicines, particularly for high cost, high use, and high risk medicines, in response to clinical and business needs of the Trust and Directorate, ensuring these are integrated across the Trust as appropriate.
3. With the rest of the members of the clinical pharmacy team, to support the strategic developments of the service electronic prescribing, improved discharge processes, and accredited technician checking.
4. To support the electronic building, maintenance, and validation of paediatric chemotherapy regimens via the paediatric chemotherapy e-prescribing system (ChemoCare).
5. Liaison with and advice to POSCU (paediatric oncology shared care unit) pharmacists, nurses, and doctors.
6. Ensuring compliance with Improving Outcomes Guidance (IOG) standards.
7. Representing the paediatric oncology/haematology team on the Parent User Group for Kamran ward – increasing parent/patient awareness regarding pharmacy matters.
