An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward thinking advanced clinical pharmacist to lead the pharmacy service provided to the surgical unit at Withybush General Hospital and to lead on education and training for the Pharmacy department. The post is full time, but part time and job share applications will be considered.
Withybush General Hospital is a District General Hospital with around 270 beds, located in the town of Haverfordwest. The pharmacy department employs approximately 40 staff.
It provides a range of medical specialties including coronary care unit, intensive care unit, acute stroke unit, palliative care, orthopaedics, general surgery as well as a busy Emergency Department and Admissions unit working closely with the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit.
Professional development is of utmost importance and support and training will be provided. We are a patient-centred and progressive team who work closely with the multidisciplinary teams enhancing patient safety through professional advice to prescribers, discharge planning and attending consultant ward rounds.
As an advanced Pharmacist you will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of a patient focused clinical pharmacy service. The successful candidate will work within the surgical unit developing their Pharmacist role e.g. in pharmacist led clinics as an IP, working with the multidisciplinary team, monitoring financial expenditure, undertaking research and service improvement projects.
You will also be the pharmacy site lead for education and training and will co-ordinate the supervision and training of undergraduate students, foundation and post foundation Pharmacists. The post holder will organise and deliver educational sessions to medical and nursing staff at Withybush General Hospital, and support the development of the technician workforce.
You will be part of our friendly and passionate pharmacy team and contribute to the implementation of medicines optimisation, striving for excellence. You will provide a specialist and professional service to enable us to meet high standards of patient care and safety.
The post requires a highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills. You will demonstrate excellent decision making skills and problem solving skills. You will be supported to develop non-medical prescribing, advanced level clinical skills and leadership and management skills if needed.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
