An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an innovative and inspirational advanced clinical pharmacist to lead on education and training for the pharmacy department working closely with the chief technician. You will co-ordinate the supervision and training of undergraduate pharmacy students, foundation and post foundation Pharmacists as well as being given the opportunity to specialise in another clinical area.
Bronglais hospital is a District General Hospital with around 130 beds, located in the seaside town of Aberystwyth. The pharmacy department employs approximately 30 staff. It provides a range of medical specialties including an acute coronary care unit, respiratory, oncology, haematology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, acute stroke and paediatrics, maternity, general surgery and orthopaedics, as well as a busy clinical decisions unit and emergency department.
You must hold a Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and will have completed a post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience or qualifications.
You will be expected to undertake Emergency Duty Commitment (on-call), work weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota.
The post is full time, but part time and job share applications will be considered.
As an advanced Pharmacist you will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of a patient focused clinical pharmacy service, working within a specialism to develop the pharmacist role e.g. in pharmacist led clinics as an IP, working with the multidisciplinary team, monitoring financial expenditure, undertaking research and service improvement projects. The successful candidate will also provide dispensary cover and undertake clinical checking of haematology and oncology prescription.

You will need to be reliable, efficient, responsive and demonstrate a flexible approach to the needs of this challenging and growing service. The successful post holder will also require excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, innovative and committed to providing high quality care to patients.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
