We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable pharmacist to hold a joint appointment between Aston University and The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust (DGFT). You will join two forward-thinking teams implementing the seismic pharmacy education reforms.
This post provides the unique opportunity to work clinically in hospital practice as well as advancing clinical research practice. You will be supported to undertake independent prescribing qualification, if not done so already, and work towards a postgraduate qualification in teaching.
As a clinical fellow, you will play a key role in delivering clinical and practice-based research, education, and training to students at the University, including contributing to scholarship in clinical practice research at Dudley.

Main duties of the job
The post consists of a 50:50 split between The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust (DGFT) and Aston University. Areas of responsibility include:
- Provide directorate support to clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards at DGFT.
- Conduct clinical service evaluations of pharmacy services within DGFT, assessing the impact of pharmacist interventions on patient care, medication safety, and healthcare outcomes.
- Lead and manage research projects in collaboration with Aston, fostering collaboration between the organisations.
- Provide education and training on research methodologies, evidence-based practice, and pharmacotherapy topics.
Specific to the Aston University role and students of the institution:- To work with colleagues on curriculum development and the advancement of relevant disciplines.
- To plan, design and deliver teaching.
- To undertake student tutoring and support.
- To conduct individual scholarly and/or professional practice-based projects including enterprise that contributes to the profile of the Institution.
- To contribute towards clinical teaching, assessment, and verification of clinical skills and competence.
- To contribute to the development, coordination, and quality assurance of placement visits.
- To provide dedicated support for undergraduate students in securing and preparing for vacation and foundation pharmacist training experience and during post-registration training.

- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Postgraduate Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience/qualification.
- Independent prescriber and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or willing to work towards after appointment.
- Higher Education Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards within 3 years of appointment.
- Postgraduate Masters or doctorate in relevant subject or discipline or willing to work towards.
Knowledge and TrainingEssential- Significant experience post-registration and postgraduate experience in hospital Pharmacy.
ExperienceEssential- Experience of delivering clinical pharmacy service and advice relating to the safe use of medicines.
- Experience of training and education of both pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, designing, and conducting practice/clinical research projects, with proficiency in research methodologies, statistical analysis, and dissemination of findings.
Desirable- Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations in the field of clinical pharmacy or related areas.
- Experience of campus-based teaching of undergraduate pharmacy students.
Communication & Relationship SkillsEssential- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, both verbal and written to communicate highly complex drug or medicine-related information.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
