We are excited to invite applications for the position of Histopathology Advanced Biomedical Scientist, with additional responsibilities for Health and Safety. This position is within the senior laboratory team at our Bradford site.
The candidate will be an enthusiastic HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with IBMS Specialist Portfolio, and a post-graduate qualification conducive with FIBMS, for example, MSc. Experience of specialist areas of Histopathology, and supervisory or staff management experience is desirable.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Section Manager of the service to manage the team and organise the laboratory, ensuring an efficient, high-quality and safe service. As this is an Advanced Biomedical Scientist role, it has additional duties attached overseeing Health and Safety of the laboratory. Demonstrable competencies in the dissection area of the Histopathology laboratory is desirable.
Candidates will need to have a 'can-do' attitude, be enthusiastic, well-motivated and innovative, with good organisational abilities. This should be supported by well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to support individual and team working.
Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large acute teaching hospital, and the Histology workload is complex and specialist reflecting this. Bradford has a dissection laboratory which serves to support the Trust Consultant Histopathologists in dissection, with onward processing of specimens being prepared on the Airedale site laboratory.
Whilst the role is based at the Bradford site, the successful candidate will be employed by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust as part of the joint venture arrangements. Occasional travel to other IPS sites will be required at times, in fulfilment of the role.
