Role: Advanced Biomedical Scientist- Blood Transfusion
Site: Primarily based at the main laboratory at Shropshire House, London. There may be a requirement to attend shifts at the other HCA satellite laboratory at London Bridge where required.
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 Hours per week Monday - Friday (internal shift rotations, including 8am - 4:30pm, 10.00am - 6.30pm and 12.00pm - 8.30pm). Also, to include some weekends covering the hours of 8am - 8.30pm.

We're looking for an Advanced Biomedical Scientist (Blood Transfusion) to join our team at HCA Laboratories based in Shropshire House. HCA Laboratories has over 35 years' experience in providing pathology services for acute care in our HCA Hospitals, IVF Clinics, Insurance work, healthcare screening, and GP services. We cover all disciplines in pathology including allergy, biochemistry and endocrinology, haematology and blood transfusion, histopathology and cytology, immunology, and microbiology and serology, with each laboratory equipped with the best available analytical instrumentation.
As a Senior Biomedical Scientist with comprehensive experience in Hospital Transfusion (BBTS Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science or IBMS Specialist portfolio and MSc or Higher Specialist Diploma are required), you will be trained in all sections of the Transfusion Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Expected to work in all sections within the Blood Transfusion department, including day-to-day running of the department, validation, document control, stock management, participation in the compilation of data required for various meetings, and keeping maintenance records up to date.
- Speedy and accurate processing of samples.
- Interpretation, validation, and timely reporting of results.
- Ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Carry out audits.
- Adhere to Health and Safety policies.
- Follow HCA policies and procedures.
What you'll bring:- Accredited BSc.
- Must have either MSc or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma.
- HCPC Registered.
- Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences or BBTS.
- Transfusion Specialist Portfolio or BBTS Specialist.
- Evidence of continual personal development (CPD).
