Adult Speech Therapist - Neuro

Mediplacements are looking to recruit a band 6 Speech and Language Therapist for a locum position with our client in Bristol.

The pay for this position is £23-£28 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.

Successful candidates must be HCPC registered.

Description

1. To provide specialist speech and language therapy (SLT) assessment, diagnosis and treatment to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties following stroke, neurosurgical, acquired neurological and medical disorders.
2. This post may potentially cover:
1. Stroke wards
2. Medical/Complex Care wards
3. Neurosciences wards
4. Critical care
5. Outpatients
3. To manage an inpatient or outpatient caseload as appropriate.
4. To liaise about patients with the multidisciplinary hospital team and relevant primary care professionals and agencies as appropriate.
5. If working with patients in critical care or high dependency beds, to manage patients with tracheostomy or ventilator dependence.
6. To pursue and acquire ongoing knowledge and expertise for practice with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.
7. To be a member of the specialist SLT team providing assessment, advice and rehabilitation services to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties as a result of stroke, acquired neurological diseases, neurosurgical procedures, medical decline and other long-term conditions.
