Job description

Job Introduction

An Opportunity has arisen for an Administrator / Receptionist within our Reception Services Team to provide reception and admin support to our Minor Injury Unit (MIU) at Chippenham Community Hospital. The MIU is open for walk-in patients and for patients who have contacted NHS 111 and have been advised to attend. We are a busy, friendly team, who would welcome the opportunity to work with a new member of staff willing to contribute to the ongoing development of the services we provide.

Main Responsibility

The role will involve (but is not limited to) reception duties, registering patients for MIU, data input, booking in patients for X-ray and ultrasound appointments and dealing with X-ray telephone enquiries and booking X-ray appointments. If you are enthusiastic, have good IT skills and enjoy working in a team then we would like to hear from you. In return we can offer you a supportive, fast-moving and varied job, in an often-busy environment. Experience of patient administration systems would be advantageous. A full list of responsibilities can be found in the attached job description.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a compassionate approach to supporting patient care and service improvements. You must be able to build effective working relationships, be approachable and accessible with a flexible approach to work. The essential requirements of this post are a good telephone manner, high-level communication skills and attention to detail. You will have good organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

We have a full electronic patient record system which is central to our work, so accurate record keeping is critical, and you must be able to concentrate in a busy working environment.
