Job description

Our client is seeking to appoint a part-qualified actuarial trainee who is seeking a new opportunity and to continue their studies to qualified status. The successful individual will support the actuarial function in Guernsey and work closely with colleagues across England and Ireland.

In this role you will support the actuarial function of the company and assist the company in reaching its strategic targets. You will assist in the preparation of base financial results for Group, internal and regulatory audiences including completing calculations, reviewing methods, assisting in drafting reports, and providing recommendations where appropriate. As well as providing technical support and capturing data from policy databases and validating and analysing as required. You will assist in the identification of risks, and the provision and explanation of reports based on analyses and investigations, so that risks are appropriately managed and mitigated, and provide technical actuarial support to internal and external customers where requested by the senior actuaries.

The ideal candidate will need to have strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, have a systematic and logical approach to work, alongside excellent time management, organisational and prioritisation techniques. You will need to be results focussed, solutions orientated and deadline driven, focused on detail and accuracy, with good communication skills.

Our client is looking for a candidate ideally with one year of experience in life insurance actuarial with A Levels / International Baccalaureate - A in maths (min 260 UCAS points), or if you are a Graduate, you will need a degree in maths, statistics or similar, minimum 2.1, ideally with experience in Excel including formulae and functions, with the ability to learn actuarial modelling software.
