Accounts Manager
Location: Caerphilly
Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE

About the Company

Our client is a well-established manufacturing organisation based in Caerphilly, operating successfully for over 25 years. As part of a larger group, they continue to grow and evolve, offering a stable yet innovative environment. They are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Manager to lead their finance function and be a key part of their senior leadership team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will take full ownership of the accounts function, overseeing one team member. Your role will be critical in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of all financial aspects of the business. Beyond the numbers, this is an opportunity to drive improvements, streamline processes, and play an influential role in shaping the company’s financial future.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Leadership: Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy with associated accruals and FX calculations.
  2. Strategic Financial Planning: Manage cash flow and FX forecasting to support business growth.
  3. Process Improvement: Lead the automation of manual processes to enhance efficiency and provide insightful financial data to senior management.
  4. Accounts Oversight: Supervise purchase and sales ledger functions, VAT processing, bank reconciliations, and credit control.
  5. Payroll & Compliance: Oversee payroll, verify commission payments, and ensure compliance with PAYE, pensions, and holiday tracking.
  6. Project Leadership: Take the lead on finance-related projects, including banking migration and potential accounting system transitions.
  7. Group Reporting: Ensure financial information is accurately reported to the Group in a timely manner.
  8. Grant & Funding Management: Oversee financial requirements for grant-funded projects.

What We’re Looking For

  1. AAT qualified, part-qualified (stopped studier), or QBE with a solid technical accounting background.
  2. Experience working within the manufacturing or SME sector preferred.
  3. A hands-on, adaptable professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved.
  4. Strong Excel skills with experience using various accounting packages.
  5. A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  6. A confident leader who thrives in a senior leadership role and wants to make a real difference.
