Accountant

We have a position available for an Accountant in Selby, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be offered a salary of 35k, and the expected start date is 02 June 2025.
The Company Accountant will be responsible for carrying out financial accounting tasks and overseeing the Bookkeepers, Debtors, Creditors, Payroll, and Costing departments. A minimum experience required is 3 years, with an audit background being advantageous.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COMPANY ACCOUNTANT

Reports to:
The Finance Manager/Finance Director

Roles:

The Company Accountant will be responsible for carrying out financial accounting tasks and overseeing the Bookkeepers, Debtors, Creditors, Payroll, and Costing departments.

Responsibilities and Authority

1. Monthly management accounts preparation and reporting
2. Processes Management journal
3. Monthly VAT Reconciliation and Submission
4. Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies - Cost Accountant reviews
5. Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions
6. Stock Management (Financial Reconciliations)
7. Review and Authorise Debtors and Creditors and prepare financial Reconciliations
8. Review Weekly and month-end Payments
9. Communication with Auditors
10. Communication with SARS and other Statutory bodies
11. Ensure monthly reporting deadlines are met
12. Fixed Assets control (Financial)
13. Any ad-hoc duties which are assigned

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1. Proven work experience as Accountant
2. Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and IFRS
3. Financial Accounting experience essential
4. Experience with accounting software, Sage X3 and CaseWare
5. Computer literacy, MS Excel, essential
6. Excellent analytical skills
7. Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
8. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
9. BCom Accounting, or higher qualification
