The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our team as an Accountant. In this role, reporting to the Finance Manager, you will co-ordinate the production of the financial data in accordance with the business needs and you will be responsible for a number of subsidiaries yourself. This needs to be produced in a timely and high-quality manner for the purpose of reporting, planning and control of the business processes. Undertake other general duties required within the department.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Provide assistance and understanding of main business areas such as transaction based staff, overheads and subsidiary companies.
2. Have an understanding and able to assist if required with purchase ledger, subcontract ledger and sales ledger, expenses and credit cards.
3. Provide comprehensive accounting support to the Finance Manager and Management Accountant.
4. Review and report monthly financial results.
5. Prepare and process journals ensuring allocation to the correct general ledger codes.
6. Assist with the production of budgets and updated forecasts for allocated cost centre and departments including overheads.
7. Assist with the production of monthly management accounts for cost centres including overheads to agreed time frames in compliance with company quality standards for all group companies.
8. Liaise with Operational Staff and Functional Department Managers.
9. Assist the Finance Manager in the development and implementation of finance department processes, system improvements and policies to ensure continued improvement to meet changing business demands.
10. Assist with the production of Statutory VAT returns and ensuring that the Construction Industry Tax (CIS) returns are submitted on time and paid in a timely manner in accordance with HMRC regulations.
11. Produce Balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis for all balance sheet accounts.
12. Produce accrual and pre-payment schedules and agree to General Ledger balances.
13. Provide effective financial control of overhead cost items.
14. Help mentor and support the junior finance team members.

The Person

1. Qualified/Part Qualified/QBE accountant ACCA/CIME/ACA.
2. At least 5 years accounts experience within a busy Finance function, in a fast paced environment.
3. Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics and Jet Reports would be a distinct advantage.
