Job description

We have an opportunity for an experienced account director to take the lead on a fast-paced medical affairs account focusing on rare diseases. If you're looking to take that next step in your career and have a passion for delivering programmes that transform patient lives for the better, this could be the role for you.

The role

In this pivotal role, you'll lead the account team in delivering high-impact initiatives that advance scientific communication and patient outcomes in the field of rare diseases. In close collaboration with the team, you will direct implementation of the client's strategy, ensure high-quality execution and drive business growth.

You can be based at any of our UK offices or work completely remotely from anywhere in the UK and Ireland.

Key responsibilities

  1. Leadership of medical affairs workstream within a highly significant rare diseases account for AMICULUM
  2. Providing clients with a high level of scientific, strategic and creative expertise on medical communications projects, including symposia, advisory boards and other events, and proactive and reactive educational resources for external stakeholders and client internal teams
  3. Establishing and building positive, collaborative relationships with client teams and medical experts
  4. Providing leadership and support for the internal account team, engaging with and encouraging their development
  5. Supporting business development activities through relationship building and the organic growth of accounts
  6. Confidently managing account financials and project budgets
  7. Reviewing content developed by the writing team to ensure alignment with objectives
  8. Building collaborative partnerships across internal teams
What you'll need
  1. Client services expertise at a healthcare communications agency, with a focus on medical affairs, and a strong life sciences background
  2. Proven ability to lead account teams, provide strategic direction and drive business development
  3. Strong verbal communication, with a strategic mindset to contribute to brand planning and innovative approaches
  4. Experience mentoring junior team members, reviewing their work and fostering client relationships
  5. Highly organized, detail oriented and able to stay calm under pressure
  6. Willingness to travel
  7. Experience in rare diseases and omnichannel is beneficial but not essential
