Within our University Partnerships division, our UEL International Study Centre has grown very significantly since its launch in 2018, and now offers:

  • International Foundation programmes in Accounting, Architecture, Business and Management, Engineering, Computing and Science, Hospitality Management, Humanities and Social Science and Law
  • International Year One programmes in Business and Engineering, and from September 2021, Computer Science and Hospitality Management
  • International Graduate Diploma and pre-masters programmes
  • Pre-sessional, in-sessional and induction programmes for UEL international degree level students

We are looking for an Academic Support Administrator to join our team at our centre in UEL’s Docklands campus, providing an excellent service to internal and external customers relating to a range of academic support functions.

In addition to carrying out a range of duties at a high level, the postholder will work as part of a team in a collaborative working environment, underpinned by key values:

Key accountabilities and duties

  • Be responsible for the delivery of high quality academic administration support to staff and students at our Centre;
  • Support the functions and processes associated with the effective and efficient delivery, monitoring and assessment of academic programmes to required quality standards;
  • Effective maintenance of student records, including attendance, progression and grades, and development of systems and processes to optimise the efficiency of these processes;
  • Assist with the implementation of all aspects of assessment, examination and award processes in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Effectively liaise with colleagues in relation to the co-ordination of academic timetables and the availability of teaching space;
  • Contribute to the provision and monitoring of pastoral and academic support which supports our students realise their potential, including the identification of areas which could be improved within these support structures and processes;
  • Liaise with centre and University staff and other stakeholders on a wide range of academic support matters;
  • Assist with providing timely and accurate management information
  • Attend and take minutes at appropriate academic programme meetings as required
  • The flexibility and willingness to carry out other work from time to time at our request, and to work effectively under pressure at key times in the academic year.

Place of Work

University of East London Docklands Campus. The nature of the lecturer role means any limited remote/home working will only be possible, by arrangement, outside of term time.

Experience and achievements

Essential:

  • Proven experience of administration in a customer-focussed environment
  • Experience in assisting with the development and implementation of effective and efficient systems and processes
  • Effectiveness in building and maintaining excellent working relationships with colleagues and customers from a wide range of backgrounds

Desirable:

  • Prior work experience in an education setting

Skills

Essential:

  • Very strong administrative skills, excellent written and spoken English, and attention to detail
  • Able to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Well developed IT skills, particularly with regards to Microsoft Office and able to learn and accurately use new IT databases/systems at a fast pace
  • Time management skills demonstrated in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective working on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and willingness to undertake and learn new tasks and skills
  • Committed and responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults

Desirable:

  • Prior understanding of the needs, sensitivities and aspirations of international students
  • Fluency in a second language

Successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
