Corrections and Justice Services understands that to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal people in the justice system and to achieve a reduction in the rate of reoffending, unique strategies and initiatives must be implemented. Through its long-standing commitment to the Aboriginal Justice Agreement, the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Plan, the Koori Inclusion Action Plan, and in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal community, Corrections and Justice Services has developed this unique Aboriginal Case Manager role.
About the role
Please note this role will service the South Morang and Reservoir offices and candidates will be expected to travel between locations as required.
The Aboriginal Case Manager will be responsible for managing a caseload with a majority of Aboriginal individuals with a range of order requirements aimed at reducing the risk of reoffending through conducting risk assessments, preparing case plans, providing interventions, and addressing the underlying causes of offending, whilst directing and monitoring compliance with court order obligations.
The unique purpose of this role is that it will be responsible for developing and implementing cultural support plans for Aboriginal clients and working with Aboriginal justice networks to identify appropriate support to strengthen case management outcomes for clients.
