3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer

6 + month contract inside IR35 c£470 a day

Cambridgeshire - 2 days a week onsite

We are currently recruiting for a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join a busy team based in Cambridgeshire.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day proactive management and support of servers, storage and associated technologies with a focus on technologies like NSX and Nutanix.

We're looking for someone who can provide a high level of customer service with good problem solving and troubleshooting skills along with the ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Review existing processes and tasks, proposing solutions to simplify and/or provide consistent results through automation techniques and tools.
2. Assist with the day-to-day maintenance of our internal and customer virtual environments which consist of VMware and Hyper-V platforms.
3. Deployment, technical support and proactive maintenance for the following products:
1. Operating Systems and hosted services.
2. HPE ProLiant Servers.
3. Fibre Channel Fabrics.
4. VMware NSX.
5. Nutanix.
4. Providing assistance and guidance to the Level 2 team.
5. General administration of multiple storage arrays; tasks to include:
1. Provisioning new hosts/virtual volumes.
2. Configuring replication between sites.
3. Capacity management.
4. Vendor liaison for issue logging and software updates.
6. Management of agentless monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor, VeeamOne and OneView.
7. Refinement of triggers and thresholds to continually improve proactive support of customer systems.
8. Reviewing team documentation and knowledge-based articles, suggesting improvements.
9. Adhering to incident, change and problem management processes to ITIL standards.

Skills & Experience:

1. Previous experience in a client facing support role.
2. Expert level skills in deploying, configuring and troubleshooting VMware NSX.
3. Expert level skills in deploying, configuring and troubleshooting Nutanix.
4. Proficient in Shell Scripting and automation tools.
5. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for ideal automation strategies.
6. Experience with LVM based disk operations are a must to administrate disk groups.
7. Experience with HA clustering using pcs to maintain internal services.
8. Container orchestration skills using podman/docker will be desirable.
9. Configuring, troubleshooting and administering of VMware and MS Hypervisors up to and including the latest versions.
10. Experience of Windows Server and Active Directory up to latest supportable versions.
