Citi is looking for Graduate Software Engineers to join its application development teams in Belfast. Our Technologists support and enable the success of our trading businesses— and by utilising a broad range of technologies, our team is at the forefront of innovation. We seek to drive our systems and processes toward scalable, low-latency, high-frequency enterprise systems to support Citi and our aggressive growth strategy. Graduate Software Engineers participate in an intensive training program, where they receive in-depth education to learn the fundamentals of the application development engineering role, including the Capital Markets, multiple programming languages, as well as the nuances of Citi’s culture.

Our Citi Belfast Technology teams build, own and support many front-end, middle-tier and back-end applications that are used on Citi trading floors around the world. Numerous applications handle millions of transactions per day and have billions of dollars in trade-flow. Many teams operate on a "follow-the-sun" model and are required to have their applications running 24/7. We provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed... We’re committed to teaching you the ropes. Though this is a permanent opportunity, you will join a 2-year Graduate Programme. This programme starts in September 2025 and will begin with a comprehensive purpose-built training programme before joining your team.

This programme is rotational and here at Citi, rotational programmes are intended to help you build a broad skillset and accelerate your career growth by gaining exposure to more than one of our App Dev teams. Our rotational programme will help you discover the best fit for your skills and long-term career goals at Citi. Your time here will look something like this... As a Software Engineer, you will work in an agile environment, developing quality and scalable software solutions using leading-edge technologies. Based on business requirements, you will develop code consistent with quality standards, and offer support during testing cycles and post-production deployment. To ensure defect-free programming, you will use the appropriate tools to test and debug code, and participate in the review of peer coding.

Throughout the two rotations, you will have the opportunity to focus on a variety of technologies, like the following:

1. Gain experience with CI/CD pipelines, commit your code and be live in production in 1 hour
2. Working on latest UI technologies like React JS, Angular
3. Exposure to Containers using Docker/Kubernetes and Cloud infrastructure, Cloud technologies (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS)
4. Core development work on applications in Java, Kotlin, C# / .NET, Python
5. Use software development tools like: JIRA, Zephyr, BitBucket, TeamCity, uDeploy, Artifactory, OpenShift (ECS/Docker)
6. Working on latest design and software architecture patterns and frameworks - Microservices, APIs, Spring
7. Working on various SQL and NoSQL databases - Oracle, MongoDB, Neo4J, Redis, HDFS, Cassandra etc. handling various data use cases.
8. Experience in developing low latency/real-time Equity trading platforms, inclusive of algorithmic and systematic complex event processing.
9. Working with event streaming/messaging systems such as KAFKA, Solace
10. Learn about best Engineering Excellence practices, Minimum Development Standards and Minimum Operational standards set and followed at CITI.

1. You are studying a STEM degree and interested in pursuing a career in coding
2. You have been exposed to some form of coding language and are interested in learning others
3. You will have or will be graduating by 2025 as the programme starts on 1st September 2025.
4. Obtained or on course to achieve a 2:1 (or equivalent) at undergraduate level
5. You have a passion for Technology.
