2025-2026 Upper School English Teacher

Norfolk Collegiate School seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Upper School English Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-2026 academic year. This position involves teaching core and elective English courses, advising a small group of students, and contributing to the school's mission through collaboration and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teach upper school English courses, including thematic literary colloquia and Advanced Placement courses.
2. Develop engaging and rigorous curricula that support student learning and growth.
3. Provide instruction in writing, critical analysis, and literary interpretation.
4. Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners.
5. Advise a small group of upper school students, fostering academic and personal development.
6. Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary learning and curriculum development.
7. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues to support student success.
8. Participate in school events, professional development, and committee work as needed.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in English or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
2. Teaching experience in an upper school setting.
3. Strong background in varied literary studies.
4. Experience teaching writing to adolescents; Advanced Placement experience is a plus.
5. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
6. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive classroom environment.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents.
