Job description

Norfolk Collegiate seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Upper School Biology Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-2026 academic year. This position will be responsible for teaching regular and Advanced Placement Biology courses, advising a small group of upper school students, and supporting the school's mission through collaboration and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Teach multiple sections of Biology and AP Biology, with the possibility of additional science electives based on background and interest.
  2. Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences in the lab and classroom.
  3. Use a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learning styles.
  4. Guide students in developing critical thinking, data analysis, and scientific writing skills.
  5. Serve as an advisor to a group of upper school students, providing academic and personal support.
  6. Collaborate with science department colleagues to align curriculum and best practices.
  7. Participate in school life, including meetings, student events, and co-curricular programs.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field; advanced degrees are valued.
  2. Experience teaching high school science; AP Biology teaching experience preferred.
  3. Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
  4. Familiarity with integrating technology into science instruction.
  5. Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
