Job description

Do you have broad knowledge and understanding of sound, communications and sound-related disciplines in a theatre environment? Can you confidently operate Digico T software? Do you want to be part of a collaborative, ambitious and dynamic team? Are you available for work from early January 2025 until the end of May?

We are looking for an experienced Sound Technician to join us, on a fixed term contract, as an active member of the Sound Department with show operation responsibility and to participate in the smooth running and maintenance of shows. This role works alongside colleagues to ensure effective and efficient technical support is in place for all shows and to creatively assist in the implementation of sound designs.

Reporting to the Head of Sound, key areas of responsibility include:

  1. Operating and plotting sound for shows on Digico sound desks
  2. Maintaining, backing up and archiving shows
  3. Assisting with Radio Mic plots
  4. Supporting production sound with the set up of shows
  5. Complying with health and safety policies
  6. Responsibility for daily sound requirements in any RSC venue.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following knowledge and experience:

  1. Significant experience and understanding of Sound in theatre
  2. Familiarity and confidence with Digico SD T software
  3. Good communication and organisational skills
  4. Have a positive and solutions focused outlook
  5. Be able to pragmatically manage expectations and realise creative designs.

This opportunity is offered as a full time, fixed term contract from early January 2025 until the end of May, working an average hours contract of 48 hours per week, over 6 days, including evening and weekend work.
