Overview

Responsible for supporting Gallagher Bassett’s desktop infrastructure, users and systems. Provide 1st line support to individuals accessing the IT environment from a variety of different locations, resolving problems, ensuring adherence to policies and driving service improvements.

This role will be based in Gallagher Bassett's office in Ipswich and it will be a requirement of the role to be on site 5 days a week. Applicants will need to be in a commutable distance to Ipswich.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Provide 1st line support for all IT infrastructure and internally developed systems via the telephone and ticketing system.
  • Liaise with 2nd and 3rd line support staff in the resolution of support requests, escalating to wider scope Corporate IT teams where appropriate.
  • Supporting users both in person and via remote tools.
  • Assist with ensuring that IT infrastructure is optimally installed, maintained and operated.
  • Assist with ensuring IT systems adhere to availability, performance and data integrity SLAs.
  • Assist with administering user accounts and access within the business.
  • Participate in and contribute to team meetings.
  • Contribute to documentation of infrastructure systems.
  • Proactively identify enhancements to IT service offerings.
  • Comply with all Gallagher Bassett and office procedures.
  • Any other duties as required by Gallagher Bassett.
About You

  • Previous experience gained working as a 1st Line Helpdesk Technician in a commercial environment is required.
  • Deployment, configuration and support of Microsoft operating systems including Windows 10/11 and Office 365.
  • Understanding of Active Directory domains, Microsoft Exchange and software management solutions.
  • Administration of Active Directory user accounts and computers.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including network hardware configuration.
  • Knowledge of Desktop Applications in Windows environments.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed support documentation.
  • An understanding of IP-PBX telephone systems.
  • Basic scripting in languages such as: BAT, VBScript and PowerShell.
  • Basic MS SQL queries.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and fully understand their requirements.
  • Able to promote own skill development and drive to further knowledge.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and improvement to processes and quality of service.
  • Ability to work within challenging deadlines and under pressure.
  • Able to commute to Ipswich and eligible to work in the UK.
