Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Surgical Outpatients team part time (28.5 hours).

You will be a highly competent nurse, knowledgeable and a visible practitioner within our clinical environment.

You will manage allocations of nursing staff within the department and ensure clinics run effectively and efficiently.

You must have an understanding of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk, and quality issues.

You must have effective management and organisational skills and be dedicated to supporting the patient throughout their Outpatient journey.

Applicants must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, have a genuine desire to work in Outpatients, and be flexible to work over 5 days.

The interview date for this role will be Monday 14th April.

Hours flexible Monday to Friday.

You must be able to work from 8am and up to 18.30

Main duties of the job

The Registered Nurse works as part of the department team and is accountable for the planning and delivery of patient care under the leadership of the Lead Nurse/ Deputy Lead Nurse. The Registered Nurse will:

  1. Be responsible for providing a range of specialist services in the outpatient department.
  2. Have specific responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the clinics managing the flow of patients and escalating any issues or concerns to the Lead Nurse/ Deputy.
  3. Be expected to work autonomously in carrying out all relevant forms of nursing care within the parameters set by the local, organisational, and national guidelines for best practice.
  4. Carry out all nursing duties within the department commensurate with their level of education and experience.
  5. Be required to take charge of the individual clinical area within the department in the absence of the Lead Nurse and Deputy Lead Nurse.
  6. Be expected to role model and lead on ensuring that standards of care are to the highest standard with excellent communication skills.
  7. Ensure that patients' privacy and dignity are maintained within the outpatient department.
  8. Ensure appropriate chaperoning of patients for consultation and clinical examinations.
