What you will do:
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing independent risk oversight of Treasury activities. The Treasury Risk Manager will lead on risk activities on Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book ("IRRBB") and Credit Risk Spread in the Banking Book ("CSRBB"). They will support other Treasury topics as well.
In this role you will:
- Apply deep understanding of IRRBB, CSRBB, market risk, derivatives, hedge accounting and regulatory requirements to enhance risk management at HSBC.
- Prepare and manage monthly risk forum dedicated to covering markets, rates, and IRRBB/CSRBB. Experience with setting and evaluating controls and limits to manage these risks are critical.
- Collaborate and engage across stakeholders in capital and liquidity risk, stress testing, and recovery and resolution planning.
- The role also requires a fundamental understanding of all business line activities in an institution commensurate with a SIFI's size and complexity, with an emphasis on those activities carried out within the Global Banking and Markets.
- Must have ability to build positive relationships while at the same time challenging stakeholders.
- This position is in the second line of defense serving in the CRO risk function.
- Review and challenge risk strategy for interest rate risk management including but not limited to reviews of assumptions/inputs that determine decision making.
- Manage a monthly forum covering IRRBB and CSRBB to discuss relevant topics with Treasury and business stakeholders.
- Evaluate risk limits and risk appetite setting.
- Provide assurance on controls operated by the first line.
Requirements
You should apply if you have:
- Deep understanding of Treasury risks focused on IRRBB/CSRBB, market risk, hedging strategies, hedge accounting, and setting risk limits.
- Deep knowledge of eurozone regulatory requirements related to IRRBB/CSRBB but also liquidity and capital.
- Ability to build positive relationships and influence decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and self-generate to achieve objectives.
