The role

The Systems Administrator is responsible for providing expert Information Technology (IT) system support services across the organization. This individual will assist with IT project management, resource management, hardware installation and maintenance, troubleshooting and communicating with all users of the Edge Imaging technology infrastructure. The Systems Administrator may be required to assist with IT planning, as well as identifying, selecting and deploying new technology to support organizational goals and objectives.

What You Will Focus On

1. Administrate servers and functions required to operate the company
2. Administrate and deploy Virtual Machines across multiple hosts
3. Manage and ensure backups are running through software such as Veeam
4. Manage enterprise storage systems, as well as backup storage
5. Plan, test, and implement improvements to our Windows environment and server infrastructure
6. Bring any system flaws, issues, or problems that cannot be resolved to the attention of higher management
7. Manage and deploy end user hardware and software in a Windows-based environment
8. Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place, updated, and functional
9. Support end users as necessary
10. Maintain backup solutions and connectivity throughout
11. Implement new software and hardware solutions provided by third parties as necessary
12. Other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

1. Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an acceptable combination of education
2. A minimum of five years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
3. Advanced overall knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, including Active Directory Management
4. Proficiency with VPN networks, firewalls, encryption, and other aspects of network security technologies
5. Experience with Virtualized environments
6. Good overall knowledge of Veeam virtual machine backup software is an asset
7. Ability to explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences
8. High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
9. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
10. Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
11. Excellent problem-solving skills
12. Knowledge of applicable IT laws and regulations
13. As part of the employment criteria, individuals need to meet company criminal check requirements
14. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
15. A+, VMWare credential, Windows Server Credential

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

1. Fast-paced office environment
2. Ability to sit for extensive periods of time
3. Moving or lifting items up to 25lbs may be required
4. This hybrid role with scheduled days in-office at the Burlington location
