Software Engineer - K

Owkin is building the first universal AI Operating System called K to lay the foundation for Biological Artificial Superintelligence (BASI). This OS integrates a suite of AI agents that decode complex biology, accelerate research, and dramatically increase productivity. Acting as copilots, Owkin K agents will automate drug discovery and diagnostics and power next-gen pharma companies.

Owkin's OS will be powered by the world's largest federated multimodal patient data network, a robotized lab, leading AGI technologies, and cutting-edge multimodal foundation models and LLMs.

About the role :

As Software Engineer in K product team, you will be at the heart of our mission to accelerate data-driven biomedical discoveries at scale. You will contribute to building and maintaining a virtual assistant system for Biomedical researchers that uses AI Engineering to explore public biology knowledge and Owkin proprietary data in order to power drug discovery decisions.

In particular, you will :

• Design, implement, and maintain microservices including large language models components (agents, tools, retrieval-augmented generation) and visualization capabilities for omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) data.
• Contribute to the evolution of the architecture to support deeper omics analyses and enhance reasoning capabilities.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and scientists to implement features that benefit drug discovery practitioners.
• Support and improve our CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.
• Participate in incident response to ensure high availability and reliability.

Position is based in our Paris or Nantes offices or remotely in France.

Required qualifications / experience :

• Significant experience as a software engineer working on production applicative stack.
• Experience with a microservices architecture deployed in a cloud-based infrastructure.
• Demonstrated attention to quality and software engineering processes, including observability and security: we run what we build.
• Experience with Python.
• Full professional proficiency in English: our team is distributed across Europe.

Preferred qualifications / bonus :

• Experience in building AI Engineering / LLM-based systems.
• Experience in building machine-learning based systems.
• Familiarity with omics data or other medical data modalities.
