Job Description:

The Open Edge and HPC Initiative (OEHI) is an association to promote the deployment of ARM and RISC-V technologies in the context of High Performance Computing (HPC) and the Compute Continuum. The association's objective is to create an industrial and academic ecosystem that supports and promotes the ARM and RISC-V based platforms and applications. The association is registered in the Netherlands.
The association’s current activities are:

1. Sharing of information, experience and lessons learned between members;
2. Defining reference architectures (template architectures that are recommended by the association towards its members and non-members);
3. Operation of a large-scale HPC and Compute Continuum testbed;
4. Supporting the realization and demonstration of end-to-end solutions including workflows across edge, cloud and HPC;
5. Providing recommendations for improvement of energy efficiency at various levels of the architecture and technologies;
6. Raising awareness for capabilities of ARM and RISC-V based solutions;
7. Organization of training events like hackathons;
8. Engaging in or supporting third-party funded projects that are in line with the objectives of the association; and
9. Publishing deliverables, such as white papers, specifications and guidelines, in order to accelerate the adoption of HPC technologies. The deliverables will be made publicly accessible via social media, workshops, training and/or the website of the association.

We are looking for a Technical Engineer with primarily a technical role where he/she will be in charge of executing technical work plans in the HPC and Computing Continuum domain together with OEHI members and staff reporting to OEHI. This work includes but is not limited to tasks like the design of proofs-of-concept for hardware and software solutions in the scope of OEHI, its implementation and optimization, and/or the evaluation of such solutions.
The Technical Engineer will, furthermore, have a managerial role and be in charge of the preparation and coordination of the implementation of OEHI’s technical work plans. This involves working on solution strategies, breakdown of technical work tasks, and management of the technical documentation in close collaboration with the OEHI partners and staff reporting to OEHI. The target is also to support the expansion of the OEHI’s expertise and foster its position in the European HPC and Computing Continuum ecosystem.
The Research Engineer/Technical Coordinator will also support the acquisition of project funding, e.g. by identifying national and European funding opportunities and supporting the creation of project proposals.

Your responsibilities are:

1. Report periodically to the OEHI Board and its Chair.
2. Implement technical work plans and projects of OEHI.
3. Evaluate different HPC and Computing Continuum solutions and proofs-of-concept implementations.
4. Coordinate the technical execution and orchestration of OEHI’s working groups and technical projects.
5. Support applications for European and nationally funded projects in HPC and Compute Continuum domains.
6. Represent OEHI at technical meetings, workshops, conferences and other outreach activities.
7. Contribute to creating technical documents like reports and white papers for OEHI.

Job Requirements:

• A university degree, ideally in the area of engineering or computer science, ideally complemented by a PhD degree.
• Profound background in architectures and technologies relevant to the HPC and Computing Continuum domain.
• Knowledge of HPC and/or Computing Continuum use cases and workflows.
• Experience in acting as a system architect.
• Good experience in technical management and coordination of research and innovation projects.
• Confident attitude and very good communication skills.
• Strong focus on creativity, proactivity, conceptual thinking and continuous improvement including the ability to work under own initiative.
• Good language skills in English.
