Position Overview
Location: Toronto, ON
The Senior Landscape Architect at Nadi Group leads the strategy, design vision, and technical excellence for all landscape projects, ensuring that our focus on sustainability, placemaking, and client-centric solutions is embedded in every aspect of site development. This role requires a balance of creative leadership, practical site-based problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary collaboration—particularly with the Directors of Architecture, Planning, and Urban Design.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Leadership & Innovation: Champion ecologically sound and forward-thinking landscape solutions for diverse project types, including eco-villages, mixed-use developments, and large-scale master plans. Generate inspiring concepts and encourage a culture of experimentation and creativity within the landscape team, pushing boundaries while maintaining feasibility.
2. Project Oversight & Quality Control: Review and approve landscape design proposals, construction documents, and final deliverables, upholding high standards for aesthetics, environmental stewardship, and technical accuracy. Collaborate with Project Managers and Senior Designers to ensure alignment between concept designs and real-world constraints (budgets, timelines, regulatory codes).
3. Team Management & Mentorship: Grow and lead a multi-level team of Senior, Mid-Level, and Junior Landscape Architects, providing guidance in design development, technical detailing, plant selection, and sustainability practices. Foster professional growth through feedback sessions, regular design reviews, and training opportunities.
4. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with the Directors of Architecture, Planning, and Urban Design to integrate comprehensive site strategies, seamlessly blending building footprints, urban frameworks, and green infrastructure. Participate in multi-disciplinary charrettes and leverage shared expertise to deliver cohesive design solutions that serve both environmental and human needs.
5. Client Relations & Business Development: Work closely with the Marketing & Business Development team to pursue new leads, prepare proposals, and cultivate relationships with prospective clients in sectors such as RV resorts, mixed-use developments, and outdoor amenities. Represent Nadi Group at conferences, public forums, and client-facing engagements to showcase the firm’s landscape expertise and design philosophy.
6. Research & Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging materials, technologies, and sustainability frameworks (e.g., regenerative landscape techniques, green infrastructure) to ensure the practice remains on the cutting edge. Encourage parametric or data-driven approaches where beneficial, in tandem with Visualization/Parametric Modeling Specialists.
7. Operational & Financial Accountability: Develop and manage discipline-specific budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocations, ensuring profitable project delivery. Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Finance Manager to align business objectives with efficient team operations and revenue targets.

Qualifications

1. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field. 8+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3+ years in an Associate, Senior, or leadership capacity overseeing complex or high-profile landscape projects.
2. Technical & Design Expertise: Proven track record in ecological design, master planning, planting design, and integrated stormwater management. Proficiency in CAD/BIM, 3D modeling, or parametric design tools is a plus, alongside strong knowledge of local codes and standards.
