As part of AtkinsRéalis’ Engineering Services group, the Airports team specializes in providing a full range of planning and engineering services for airport and heliport infrastructure projects to local, national, and international clients.
The Airport team is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer, Airports to join our growing team to work on one the most important Canadian airport projects of decade.
This role must be based in Toronto, ON. and the position is 100% in-office in Toronto. Fly-in-Fly-out may be possible from Ottawa or Montréal.
Your role within the team:
- Assist the Manager of Airside Infrastructure in leading, managing, and directing team efforts by prioritizing and distributing team member tasks and managing workload.
- Overseeing and coordinating design and compliance reviews and inspections to ensure adherence to applicable aviation codes, standards, regulations, and client specifications and requirements, including the Airport Construction Code.
- Proactively identifying safety risks and advocating for resolution as required.
- Providing technical guidance and support to team as needed.
- Reviews, documents, and improves processes and workflows to eliminate inefficiencies and maximize team performance.
- Coordinates SME assessments, reviews, and updates of standards and/or specifications.
- Attends meetings on behalf of the Manager and provides technical expertise as needed.
- Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the career development of the staff.

The ideal candidate:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in design as a P.Eng., construction and commissioning of major developments or restoration/retrofit projects including airport civil infrastructure and facilities.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience and ability to manage multiple civil engineering sub-disciplines including but not limited to Structural, Municipal, and Transportation.
- Extensive experience applying all major Canadian design codes and standards in aviation.
- Knowledge of contract terms and conditions, contract management and familiarity with construction law.
- Experience with restoration programming and ability to apply the principles of asset management for varied civil infrastructure.
- Proficiency with various computer applications including Bluebeam and Microsoft Office suite of programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
- Ability to create, implement and update schedules and priorities for team management and to update managers or Program leads.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills including the ability to facilitate meeting / workshops with large groups of stakeholders.
