Job Title : Business Development Director

Industry : Paper Manufacturer

Salary : Up to £105K, 20% Bonus, Car Allowance (€900 a month), Healthcare, 6% Pension, 25 Days Holidays.

Location : France (Ability to travel to Paris)

Job Summary

Leading a team of Business Development managers to bring new customers from the luxury packaging sector.

Ownership of major accounts in the Luxury packaging and Papers market.

Developing new markets and customer opportunities – leveraging our converting capability as well as identifying opportunities for market growth in new, diverse spaces with new products and capabilities. Working closely with partners in advanced materials, the product development group, Centre for Innovation and wider paper products teams.

Key Responsibilities

This will include, but will not be limited to :

  • Leading a team of 3 BDM’s based in France, Italy and Hongkong to deliver business growth, sales targets and KPI’s within our luxury packaging business.
  • Development of 1-3 year business plans with selected major partners – building multiple stakeholders.
  • Development of accurate forecasts by product and range, based on shared insight and key product programmes.
  • Working closely with Product management function to deliver Portfolio, Pricing and channel plans.
  • Providing commercial support by exception relating to major complaints or service issues.
  • Development and execution of new business acquisition plan- working closely with marketing, product development and Centre for Innovation teams as well as colleagues in Advanced Materials and potentially 3rd party partners.
  • Leading continuous improvement projects at customer level to drive service improvements, operational efficiency and increase contribution. Acting as advocate and champion for the accounts internally, while ensuring objectives align with company goals.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and customers to deliver relevant, bespoke service offers that meet the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Management of key commercial documents including strategic account plan, alignment to CRM guidelines and accurate reporting. Ownership of relevant legal documents including supply agreements and contracts. Working closely with legal representatives to ensure compliant and beneficial agreements.
  • Building strategic knowledge of new and existing niche markets to identify areas of focus then delivering strong action plans in line with objectives.
  • Attendance at key trade shows and industry events to drive new business opportunities and engage with existing partners.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of senior level BDM experience including executive level and complex commercial negotiations. Proven Key Account Management experience.
  • Proven experience in acquiring new customers within the Luxury packaging segment. Ability to think strategically and to execute a detailed plan based on sound data and rationale.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong relationship builder – both externally and internally. Able to create a vision of success to engage stakeholders and then execute a strong operational plan to deliver. Able to manage resources deftly to drive optimal results, aligning to organisational capability.
  • Excellent administration and numeracy skills with a skill for presenting data in a compelling way to ensure alignment.
  • Strong prioritisation skills, able to manage self and internal resources well, understanding wider business objectives and needs. Adapting well to change and a positive influence within the rest of the team.

This is a field/home-based role – either operating out of a home office or customer/mobile location with occasional/relevant visits to the head office. This is a global customer-facing role and the expectation is that approximately 25% of time will be spent working directly with customers and ‘in market’ so regular travel is required – sometimes including long haul.
