British American Tobacco France has an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory and Engagement Manager – Global Travel Retail to join our team in Paris.
This role is responsible for successful execution of Global Travel Retail CORA strategy. The role supports the Cluster Head of LEX Global Travel Retail & China, and Senior Global Travel Retail Engagement Manager as follows:
- Develop and implement campaigns to drive the company’s political and regulatory/public affairs strategies for both traditional tobacco products and new categories.
- Develop, handle and deliver engagement and advocacy materials on key global regulatory issues and engage with relevant travel retail associations, to build time, space and opportunities for the growth of BAT's global travel retail business.
- Communicate to and engage with external collaborators to promote BAT’s priorities including preparing briefs on key industry issues, preparing a schedule of meetings with key partners.
- Monitor and track legislation, regulatory development and the external environment, including proactively researching policies impacting BAT regulatory agenda.
- Lead key consultants and agencies to deliver quality output in support of execution of Global Travel Retail Cora strategy.
- Support other members of the wider LEX team, locally and in other markets.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Operational/Professional/Business:
- Developing campaign plans.
- Excellent drafting skills for development of key advocacy materials.
- Lead strategic third-party relationships with travel retail associations, think tanks and business associations on matters of mutual interest.
- Handle worldwide regulatory insights and updates to ensure information is available in a timely manner and in a format ready to use.
- Advise internal and external collaborators of the regulatory environment.
- Management, Leadership & Relationships:
- Maintain the efficiency of processes and tools used to coordinate regulatory engagement efforts.
- Drive development and implementation of regulatory strategies and positions related to key regulatory issues such as MOP, ban on DF sales, allowances reduction, T&T, RDB, PP, etc. in APMEA.
- Coordinate participation of BAT Global Travel Retail in global and regional regulatory projects.
- Monitor and understand changes in regulation across APMEA, evaluate them and their business consequences so that opportunities for business development can be improved and threats combated.
- Support the Cluster Head of LEX and Senior Engagement Manager in providing industry leadership with external collaborators on BAT regulatory and policy issues.
- Work with the senior leadership team on those aspects of the business which are influenced by the external environment ensuring CORA activities are aligned to business strategy and address key external issues.
- Act as a key relationship leader internally and externally including but not limited to trade associations, retailers, general business community, community partners, suppliers, agencies, advisors.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships within the CORA function in Global, Regional and Area.

- Leadership qualities - an ability to lead by example, challenge and speak up with conviction even when this may be unpopular to ensure LEX is represented in the development of business plans and to provide clear direction on regulatory and reputational issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 7 years’ experience in political, media and corporate affairs issues.
- Deep political and public service relationships and an in-depth understanding of government and regulatory affairs.
- Experience dealing with partners on sensitive and complex issues.
Desirable:
- Experience in a corporate environment.
- Understanding of corporate reputation and risk management.
