Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with the PyAnsys Core team to leverage the capabilities of the PyAnsys ecosystem by implementing and supporting a variety of projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
  2. Learns and employs best practices.
  3. Performs bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
  4. Works under the close supervision of a development manager.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  1. MS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering or a Science discipline, with 2 years of experience.
  2. Working experience in technical software development via academic, research or industry experience.
  3. Good understanding and skills in Python, and other programming languages.
  4. Problem solving oriented.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  1. Familiar with Open Source practices and projects.
  2. Technical knowledge and experience with Finite Element simulation.
  3. Knowledge with control version tool such as git.
  4. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
