What you bring

• Strong legislation expertise in the Nordics region
• Experience in a senior payroll role within an in-house payroll environment processing payroll or being in a payroll audit, compliance role.
• Understands the approach taken by local authorities and has a proven track record of communicating with authorities to resolve matters.
• Has had exposure to local authority investigations and audits
• Experience in making recommendations for process improvements and ensuring that they are implemented
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks
• Proficiency in data manipulation (e.g., SQL, Excel)
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact.
• Is a productivity geek and will constantly think of ways to improve and speed up their work.
• You understand the need and ideal to work largely asynchronously.
• Writes and speaks fluent English as well as the local language being recruited for.
• It's not required to have experience working remotely, but considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a true local employment legislation and tax expert for the Nordics region.
• Conduct comprehensive risk reviews of payroll files to verify accuracy and compliance with all governmental wage tax laws and social security requirements. Identify and rectify discrepancies, underpayments, or overpayments, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed audit findings reports, highlighting areas of concern and recommending improvements to payroll processes.
• Responsible for ensuring the correctness of our payroll processes and that checklists, sign-off criteria and the network is fully embedded into Payroll Operations.
• Monitor regulatory climate and ensure changes are understood, implemented, incorporated and communicated to internal and external teams, as required.
• Provide support and training on compliance matters to payroll staff.
• Maintain country knowledge pages.
• Overall responsibility for compliance and reporting to the Manager of Payroll Compliance and Audit, working with Tax, Legal and Payroll.
• Experience in accounting / reconciliations.
• Skilled in implementing recommendations to improve processes.
• Working with internal teams to improve our platform, completing UAT testing through to sign-off. Ensure all changes are documented.
