About this opportunity

Crown has launched an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Production Manager to join our beverage-can manufacturing plant in Custines, near Nancy.

The plant operates 7/7, 24h/24h on a continuous shift system.

The role forms part of the plant Senior Leadership team and reports directly to the Plant Manager.

As leader of the Production Engineering Team, your mission is to continuously improve all standards of the manufacturing processes in relation to quality, cost, and efficiency.

Main Responsibilities

  • Drive the daily performance of our high-speed production lines through engagement with Shift Managers and Team Leaders
  • Set and consistently demonstrate high standards
  • Influence the behaviours that will drive excellence as much in the day-to-day as in continuous improvement projects
  • Exceed plant KPIs with a particular focus on safety, product quality, line efficiency, spoilage and raw material usage
  • Ensure effective communication takes place at all levels, providing up-to-date information and feedback to all relevant parties as required

Required Education and Experience

  • Degree qualified in industrial, mechanical or related engineering subject
  • At least 5 years’ experience in structuring and leading production teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of the requirements related to high-speed production
  • Good knowledge of the Statistical Process Control methodology
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools
  • Lean Six-Sigma certification will be beneficial

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Able to take a hands-on approach when necessary
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • An effective communicator with good interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Fluent in French and English; knowledge of other languages will be a plus
  • A team player, highly organised
  • Strong safety mind-set
