The Neo1 team at American Express GBT is a full-stack innovation hub, looking to accelerate the growth of our spend management platform across ecosystem partners. To enable this growth, we are looking for a new member to join our Product team, focused on direct and indirect technical ecosystem partner distribution focused on travel. The product team at Neo1 works closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify, validate, define, design, coordinate the implementation of improvements and new features across the Neo1 platform, and monitor the success of such changes. The platform serves the spending needs of SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) as a B2B SaaS platform.
What You’ll Do on a Typical Day
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Technical Product Owner to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between our Neo1 technical team and the product and technical teams of our connected ecosystem travel business stakeholders to manage and deliver valuable user experiences via:
- The successful use of our Neo1 platform as a service (engine) to indirectly deliver Expense experiences to customers acquired outside of the Neo1 platform via alternative travel platforms within the AMEX GBT group.
- The ongoing management of technical integration to current travel platforms that Neo1 direct customers benefit from.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional technical documentation skills, seasoned technical troubleshooting skills, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering valuable customer experiences via a digitally connected ecosystem.
What You’ll Do on a Typical Day- Own and leverage the Neo1 spend management platform as a service to deliver valuable customer expense processing experiences from connected travel purchasing platforms.
- Own and manage our external (and internal) API documentation for accuracy, versioning, and business consumption.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize product features and requirements.
- Train and educate connected ecosystem partners on Neo1 product context and design to align needs and minimize disruption to the core production foundation and use.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications for development teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for product development, ensuring alignment with business goals for connected platforms.
- Act as the primary point of contact for product usage – establish effective and efficient technical support and servicing, ensuring for connected travel partners and integration into the roadmap for service support and change.
- Manage the support and product backlog, including writing user stories, defining value creation, acceptance criteria, and success monitoring metrics and prioritizing tasks.
- Participate in and facilitate sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings for owned requirements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and QA, to ensure timely and high-quality product delivery.
- Continuously gather and analyze partner/internal stakeholder and user feedback to inform product improvements and iterations.
- Facilitate release – change training and education sessions.
- Monitor product performance and make data-driven decisions to enhance user experience and product functionality.
What We’re Looking ForThe ideal candidate for this role has direct experience being a developer and/or direct API integration experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Ability to navigate stakeholder needs with engineering constraints to confidently find win-win outcomes for all.
Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in a technical B2B SaaS or API service environment.
Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data to make informed product decisions.
Passion for creating inclusive products that serve a diverse user base.
Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Trello, or similar project management software.
Certification in Agile or Scrum methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner).
