Principal QA Engineer

Entity: CPS - SSP (Search, Shopping and Pricing)

The SSP product engineering group has pooled competencies / skillsets in order to:

1. Reinforce the business importance of search
2. Bring merchandising & customization at the heart of pricing
3. Enhance big data technologies & machine learning to make our transactions more relevant to the user context

As Principal QA engineer, the candidate will integrate the SIO Department. They will need to understand the architecture and challenges of the SSP ecosystem (Search Shopping and Pricing) on both functional and technical aspects focusing on Shopping Orchestration. By then, they will be enrolled as a QA mentor / coach – providing support to the engineering and QA community.

They will also be part of a scrum team covering QA activities for features that are backend oriented such as virtual Interlining, conversational search, and new content integration in Amadeus Travel Agency Rest API services.

Your main responsibilities

Technical Excellence

1. Master QA methodology
2. For complex / cross-functional solutions, analyze, write and execute test standards and procedures
3. Document, analyze root cause, and recommend corrective actions for defects
4. Master QA tools, environments and test automation solutions

Functional Excellence

1. Hold a proficient product domain knowledge incl. relevant business processes & scenarios and a proficient understanding of customer needs
2. Lead customer triages / debug sessions and help the team with reproducing the problem in-house.

Drive continuous and sustainable improvement

1. Participate in internal / external forums and lead department-wise discussions around QA methodology / framework / tooling evolution
2. Strive to maintain very high-quality standards for Amadeus products
3. Contribute to patents and technical events in the QA area
4. Propose relevant KPI and ways of measuring them efficiently, for both software deliverables and compliance with Amadeus Quality Standards
5. Ensure adoption and improvement of testing tools & environments: promote existing ones to avoid duplication, evaluate them and recommend improvements
6. Participate to the understanding, measurement and reduction of the environmental impact of the tested applications and associated QA activities

Building relations & Knowledge sharing

1. Coach, mentor & train less experienced QA Engineers, Software Development Engineers and Product Definition Analysts on quality assurance skills and professionalization
2. Actively participate in the construction, maintenance, and deployment of the on-boarding of new colleagues
3. Provide consulting on test automation issues, testing tools, QA processes and functional test coverage
4. Attend to Quality and Principal QA Engineer community events

About our ideal candidate

1. Experience with Test Management Tools
2. A knowledge of different programming languages, such as Java, Python (preferred), and scripting languages, such as SQL, Edifact to write and execute test cases, scripts, and scenarios
3. University degree in Computer science
4. ISTQB Certification
5. Advanced knowledge of Gitlab
6. A solid understanding of software development methodologies, such as agile, Waterfall, Scrum, or Kanban, and the role of QA in each phase
7. A proficiency in various testing tools, frameworks, and techniques, such as manual testing, automated testing, unit testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing, functional testing, non-functional testing, user acceptance testing, etc.
