PostDoc Research and Experimental Toxicologist (F/H/X)

PostDoc Research and Experimental Toxicologist (F/H/X) - 24 months

Bayer is a life science international company active in both human health and agriculture. Its products and services are designed to improve people’s well-being and quality of life.

By joining Bayer, you will be part of a company that values the commitment of its employees to innovate and help change the world.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In the context of the new toxicity testing paradigm based on a comprehensive mechanistic understanding of cause-consequence relationships for adverse effects induced by (agro) chemicals, new tests (in vitro and in vivo) are now required to better characterize the toxicological mode of action of compounds.

The development of new tests is largely based on the concept of Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOP). An AOP is the linear description of a mode of toxicological action ranging from the Molecular Initiating Event (MIE) to adverse effects (Adverse Outcome). Thus, an AOP presents the different key events gradually taking place at the molecular, cellular, and tissue levels and ultimately impacting the overall organism. This concept can be useful to characterize the toxicological mode of action of a compound or to define approaches for better compounds selection.

In this context, you will:

  1. Design, develop, and implement new in-vitro and in-vivo methodologies and assays to better understand specific AOPs important for agrochemicals selection (e.g. endocrine disruption, neurodevelopment, immunotoxicity).
  2. Act as study director in experimental toxicity (non-GLP).
  3. Contribute to develop new approaches aimed at reducing animal use for chemical testing.

WHO YOU ARE ?

Bayer Crop Science seeks a candidate who possesses the following:

  1. PhD in toxicology, pharmacology, biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline, as well as a strong scientific track record and problem-solving capabilities.
  2. Knowledge of omics, endocrine disruption, and developmental toxicity are advantages.
  3. Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams across countries.
  4. Good proficiency in English and French, both spoken and written.
  5. Certification in animal experimentation (project designer).

WHY WORKING WITH US ?

  1. We support a flexible working model with the option of partially working from home.
  2. You will develop your competencies and autonomy working in a high-profile environment.
  3. You will integrate a dynamic and international team where you will be able to apply your expertise and grow your competencies in a friendly and supportive environment.
  4. We provide attractive compensation and benefits (e.g. help with accommodation finding).
