In the context of growing competition for access to metals and to support the Group's strategy to become a leader in the metals of the energy transition (namely in lithium, nickel, and cobalt), a Business Development team was created in January.
The team is composed of the Vice President of Business Development and the BD Officer, based in Paris, and BD Managers located in the countries of active development (Chile, Indonesia). The team reports to the Strategy, Development, and Innovation Director who sits at the Group Executive Committee.
The role of the BD team is to identify and secure high-potential early-stage opportunities for Eramet to provide future growth options for Eramet. To achieve this ambitious goal, the BD team works with several other of the Group's Business Units (Lithium, Nickel, Mineral Sands, and Manganese) and Support Functions (Strategy, Exploration, M&A, Legal, Finance, Communications, and Public Affairs).
The BD team is also in constant relation with many public and private external stakeholders to initiate deals, build partnerships, carry communication activities, or acquire mining titles. The team interacts with governments, embassies, universities, junior mining companies, and private players from the EV-battery value chain, among others.

In terms of Industry Knowledge:
- Provide insight into how metals support the energy transition.
- Provide an in-depth view of how mineral exploration is organized.
- Ensure discovery of how mining contracts are negotiated and under what commercial conditions.
- Provide an understanding of the economics of a mining site.
In terms of Hard and Soft Skills:
- Provide practical training on financial modeling and valuation of mining assets.
- Provide practical training on how to communicate complex issues to executive committees.
- Develop your negotiation skills to see how external partners are selected and contracts are concluded.

Missions:
Your main missions consist of participating in the activities of:
Development of Business Opportunities:
- Completing company (mining juniors, metallurgy companies, cathode material producers) profiling for partnership or acquisition schemes.
- Preparing high-level financial valuations of the incoming opportunities using DCF, multiples methodologies in coordination with Finance and M&A.
- Supporting the development of business briefings to ExCom members.
- Contributing to the preparation of meeting material with internal and external stakeholders and supporting the coordination with the different directions involved to ensure the team is able to deliver on time.
- Developing reporting tools to manage the progression of opportunities that are available to Eramet.
Structuration of the Business Development Process:
- Supporting weekly project portfolio reviews and weekly Steercos for specific projects.
- Maintaining the opportunity database (~30-50 active opportunities) and maintaining contact with the prospects and partners.
Position based at the headquarters of the Eramet Group in Paris in the 15th arrondissement and will be filled for a duration of six months.
Required Profile:
- MBA student with a few years of professional experience.
- Applicants must hold a valid work visa in France for the duration of the internship.
- The team is very international and works in English first, then French and Spanish. A good English level is required; Spanish is a plus.
- Appetite for developing new business opportunities.
- Interested in the mining industry and ideally has a technical background that will assist with understanding mining and metals value chains and business models.
- Likes to work with several stakeholders and on multiple topics at the same time.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good writing and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of financial modeling and valuation concepts.
- Able to work under pressure (deliver in short deadlines).
- Prior experience in business development, corporate finance, or management consulting is a plus.
