Ranked among the best engineering schools in France and recognized worldwide, our school, a member of the Institut Mines-Télécom, trains tomorrow's talents while actively contributing to addressing major industrial, digital, and environmental challenges. With us, you join a community of 500 collaborators, 2500 students, and participate in an ambitious project: combining academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and positive societal impact.

The Institut Mines-Télécom brings together the major French engineering schools around major industrial, digital, energy, and ecological challenges. Together, we imagine and build a sustainable future by training the actors who will shape tomorrow's transitions.

What we expect from you

As Permanent Associate Professor position in Computer Science, specializing in Distributed Data Management, you are at the heart of our missions in education, research, and innovation, assigned to the Center for Training and Research Institut Henri Fayol. Within this center, you combine scientific passion and societal impact.

The Institut Henri Fayol focuses on current transformations in light of digital, ecological, and industrial transitions, which are at the heart of the efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of industry and territories. It deploys a multidisciplinary strategy combining strong skills in industrial engineering, computer science, management, applied mathematics, and environmental sciences in conjunction with the research units EVS UMR 5600, LIMOS UMR 6158, and COACTIS.

You will integrate your research project into the Laboratory of Computer Science, Modeling, and Optimization of Systems (LIMOS, UMR 6158), focused on ICT. LIMOS is attached to INS2I and INSIS of the CNRS, with academic tutelage from Université Clermont Auvergne and Mines Saint-Étienne, and is a member of Clermont Auvergne INP. Its scientific focus is on computer science, modeling, and optimization of organizational and living systems.

As a teaching and research staff member of the Department of Computer Science and Intelligent Systems at Institut Fayol, you contribute to LIMOS's research on challenges concerning data interconnection, content, and algorithms. This interconnection outlines a decentralized and dynamic ecosystem where interoperability issues are crucial. Notably, you contribute to the development and enrichment of the Territory Platform (https://territoire.emse.fr/) and the valorization of the laboratory's scientific data through semantic web technologies, linked data, and FAIR principles.

Under the responsibility of the head of the Department of Computer Science and Intelligent Systems (ISI), the objectives are :

  1. Education: Design and deliver innovative courses in computer science, particularly in algorithms, object-oriented programming, information systems, and artificial intelligence, adapted to contemporary challenges, to train the leaders and engineers of tomorrow within the Civil Engineering program, as well as the master's program in computer science with the international CPS2 program, the apprenticeship engineering program, doctoral training, and continuing education.
  2. Research: Conduct high-impact research on the research issues of the Data, Services, Intelligence (DSI) theme of the Information and Communication Systems (SIC) axis of LIMOS, namely knowledge representation, data management, machine learning, and data quality, and collaborate with the socio-economic world (industry, services, communities, etc.) for innovative and sustainable solutions. Priority will be given to work on managing, querying, interoperability, and exchanging distributed data on the web, recognized through scientific publications in the fields of semantic web and databases. The position is to be filled in the Information and Communication Systems (SIC) axis of LIMOS with expected contributions in the Data, Services, Intelligence (DSI) theme.
  3. Innovation: Actively contribute to cross-disciplinary projects in a dynamic environment open to collaborations supported by public and private funds, in France and internationally.

Your ability to work in project mode and to bridge education, research, and practical application will be essential for success.

You hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in computer science and possess :

  • Scientific skills in computer science with strong contributions in knowledge representation, data management, machine learning, and data quality. Priority will be given to the semantic web, particularly concerning linked data, distributed data management, and the integration and engineering of intelligent systems. Proven experience in teaching (undergraduate or graduate level).
  • Demonstrated expertise in scientific publication and research valorization.
  • Proficiency in English (C1 level) and ideally, international experience.

Additional assets :

  • Qualification by CNU section 27 will be favorably considered.
  • Aptitude for interdisciplinary work and multidisciplinary collaborations.
  • Collaborations with industry and applied research.
  • Demonstrated engagement in scientific outreach activities.
