What we expect from you

In joining the Maîtrise de Conférences in Materials Physico-Chemistry, you will be at the heart of our missions in education, research, and innovation within the Center for Training and Research SPIN. At the heart of this center, you will combine scientific passion and societal impact.

The Center for Training and Research SPIN is recognized for its expertise in Process Engineering applied to diverse fields, such as innovation in enterprises in partnership with companies in the energy transition, digital and environmental sectors. The recruited individual will be part of the Georges Friedel Laboratory, a joint unit of the CNRS. This laboratory brings together the potential of Mines Saint-Étienne in the fields of materials, mechanics, and processes.

Within the Process Engineering Department and the Granular Media Team, you will strengthen the skills in materials physico-chemistry to better integrate the issues of recycling and waste recovery into our research and teaching.

The contexts and objectives are:

  • Training aspect: Design and deliver innovative teaching in chemistry and transfers, adapted to contemporary issues, to train the leaders and engineers of tomorrow in the Civil Engineering courses at Mines, with a possible alternation with the Master Erasmus Mundus MULTIPHASE.
  • Research aspect: Lead high-impact work on the valorization of waste and recycling applied to the mineral industry, valued through scientific publications, recognized, and collaborating with the socio-economic world (industry, services, collectivities...) to provide innovative and sustainable solutions. The expected skills focus on the aspects of materials physico-chemistry.
  • Innovation aspect: Actively contribute to transversal projects, at the crossroads of disciplines, in a dynamic environment open to collaborations supported by public and private funds, in France and internationally.

You will have the ability to work in project mode and to engage in dialogue, teaching, research, and concrete application, which are essential for transfer.

What we are looking for

You hold a doctorate (or PhD) in Process Engineering or Materials Chemistry and possibly:

  • Scientific expertise in the physico-chemistry of materials applied to the mineral industry.
  • Confirmed experience in team management (second or third cycle).
  • Proven expertise in scientific publishing and research validation.
  • Mastery of English (level C1) and ideally, international experience.
  • Collaborations with industry and applied research.
  • Commitment to actions in scientific outreach.

  • Nature and duration of the contract: Permanent teaching and research position.
  • Position location: Saint-Étienne (42).
  • Remuneration set according to the candidate's profile, according to the rules defined by the management framework of the Institut Mines Télécom.

  • In the medium term, a permanent position is likely to be opened.
